A personal favorite of mine is the goddess, Athena. Daughter of the Greek God Zeus, she was believed to be born from her father’s head, fully clothed and armored. Her drive was for wisdom and the arts. She is known for her clarity of purpose, reason over the use of force and skill as an artisan. The quote author Kris Waldherr associates with her is one I try to live by. “Be independent. Listen to the wisdom within yourself.” Does that sound familiar to many of our Goddess club members?!
I was actually surprised by this question. What did they mean what type? Were they asking my religious preference or if I was a follower of Zen or Buddha? As I researched further it appears that there are those who feel that there are more spiritual leanings that individuals have. Some practice their spirituality more mind centered while others are more mind centered.
I recently travelled to Los Angeles and was greeted by the cannabis leaf on store fronts all around the city. Being a Floridian who’s brain has somewhat melted, I vaguely recalled that pot had been legalized for medicinal purposes in the state of California. It was just extremely odd to see so many of these centers crop up – no pun intended. Upon investigating this I found that 700 pot dispensaries are now up and running in California and are expected to bring in $7 billion in tax revenue and save $13.5 billion in prohibition costs.
There are still some good things that have come of our bad economy!
Sounds funny doesn’t it? What good things could come of these crappy times? Well one thing I can attest to is that during this time of stress and uncertainty I have recognized and celebrated what true friendship means and who those individuals are.
This past week, former President Jimmy Carter made a bold statement that many of our elected officials are racist toward President Obama. His remarks came days after President Obama’s televised Presidential address. The shout heard around the world from South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson, who just happens to be a Republican, yelled “You Lie” towards our President. This outburst came after President Obama discussed his plan on health care and said it would only be for U. S. citizens, not illegal immigrants.
