Stay Spiritually Connected
During this on going journey called life, I often search for ideas in which I can become stronger in my spiritual lifestyle and faith. As I study Buddhism I continue to read from others how to strengthen my sense of peace and good will toward others. Marianne Williamson, a contributor to Oprah magazine offered these suggestions that I find very helpful on staying connected to my spiritual self.
The first is to recognize whoever you believe your creator to be. This allows us to recognize that the power of the universe is stronger than we are as humans. It’s an exercise in humility.
Next seek opportunities where you act a a vessel of love. Give your time, your money, your heart and become more lovable in doing so.
Time should be spent on our own spiritual reflection. You can pray, meditate, journal or just walk within nature dwelling in the Divine. It’s been suggested that you add this practice to your day for at least 20 minutes per day.
Become accepting of others and their life choices. Attempt to surrender the urge to judge and ask the universe for a more accepting heart. Along with this is the act of forgiveness. If you hold onto the feeling of not forgiving someone then you get bound by a longing feeling of buried guilt.
Recognize your own mistakes and admit where you have gone wrong. You’re human and this is part of our being. Recognizing and attempting to change that which was wrong makes us more responsible partners in the world.
Take stock of your thoughts and assess where you could have thought differently. Where could you have been more positive or given love and admiration instead of withholding them? This helps you to grow and self correct your ways.
Finally, when attempting to live a more spiritual life use each interaction with another to be your best, most powerful version of YOU. This as Ms. Williamson shares, makes you a conduit of God’s love.
