Why Do I Clean Out My Closet So Often?
August 25, 2010 – 11:35 am | No Comment

One of the previous articles submitted inspired me to step into my closet once again and clear out some of the items that I have in there that have not seen the light of day. What a waste! Even though I’ll donate all that I clear out to a neighborhood charity, I had to sit and ponder why. Why did I buy these items in the first place?

Making the Most of Your Doctor Visits

Paraphrased from Oprah Magazine, July 2010.

Often when we see a doctor, we become tongue tied.  We stare wide eyed as they examine us and then when they speak, we often nod often not really understanding all that they just shared.

Dr. Oz in the July issue of Oprah shared some helpful hints in making your doctor’s visit  the best that it can be.

1. Write up your list of concerns before you go for the check up. follow that script, making certain you mention each one.

2. Compile all of the information as to your ailment. Describe what you feel at certain times, how often and how painful, etc.  Be as specific as you can be.  Is it piercing or throbbing?  Does it happen sometimes or infrequently?

3. Ask questions!  If you’re prescribed a particular medication, ask why this one and what the expectation from this medication could be.  Is there any other method of finding a diagnosis?

4. Don’t lie (not even a little bit).   You may have done it yourself, maybe once…If asked about your lifestyle – be truthful.  If asked if you are following the prescribed method of treatment – be truthful.  If asked if you smoke or drink – definitely be truthful.

5. Finally, make certain before you leave that you understand all that took place.  Were your questions answered?  Did you understand what all he or she said?  If you have some concern, bring along a trusting friend or family member or ask to tape the conversation to really listen to later on.
