Why Do I Clean Out My Closet So Often?
August 25, 2010 – 11:35 am | No Comment

One of the previous articles submitted inspired me to step into my closet once again and clear out some of the items that I have in there that have not seen the light of day. What a waste! Even though I’ll donate all that I clear out to a neighborhood charity, I had to sit and ponder why. Why did I buy these items in the first place?

Some surprising benefits of wine (besides the buzz)

We’ve all heard of the benefits of wine for our blood pressure but here are some others that may surprise you.

Fat stopper: Wine has resveratrol which is an antioxidant in grape skin. This inhibits fat storage in the body. Wine also helps to prevent obesity related disorders like clogged arteries. Of course, drink responsibly and check with your doctor if under ones care.

Body soother: Wine helps heal damaged skin  when put in your bath. Add 20 drops of jasmine essential oil, 1/4 cup Epsom salts and 1/2 bottle of red wine to your bath. Enjoy the mixture for a luxurious 20 minutes.

A stain lifter: White wine is great for attacking a red wine stains. Carefully pour white wine onto the stain and cover with salt. This will start to absorb the liquid. Remove the excess salt and blot with club soda. You’ll then be able to launder as usual.

A great marinade: Beef that is marinated for 2 hours in red wine has up to 88% fewer carcinogens after grilling than beef that was not marinated.

And I just thought a nice glass of red wine and a good book were heaven…..

Great facts that I’d never heard of! I’m trying to figure out why soaking beef in wine can reduce carcinogens after grilling. I love grilling out and I’m always very concerned about flare-ups because of the possible carcinogens.

    Thanks, Glen Woodfin
